Stating that a product or process is “environmentally friendly” is an insufficient statement; any such claim should be accompanied by qualified and quantified results. But how to measure the environmental impact of a product?
One method that is becoming more and more commonly used is to consider the Global Warming potential of a product – measured in kilograms equivalent of Carbon Dioxide, often referred to as the Carbon Footprint. Carbon Footprint analysis may also be referred to as Global Warming, and is assessed in accordance with the internationally agreed protocol of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the World Meteorological Organisation.
